Two Years of RIST Around the World
RIST provides a technically robust solution for low-latency live video over unmanaged networks, with a combined focus on interoperability and innovation. The last 5-10 years has seen a significant push to use unmanaged connectivity for B2B video transport. This has been driven by an increased availability of good quality internet access, meaning that IP video transport has become a key focus in recent years. RIST can be used for many different applications, including:
· 24/7 Linear channels for satellite uplink
· Interactive (2-way) talking heads news interviews
· Live events
· Long-form studio programs as primary path(s) to air
· Reverse vision lines.
In this session from Virtual VidTrans 2021, Kieran Kunhya, CEO of Open Broadcast Systems presents an analysis of his experience over the last two years. He discusses the roll out of RIST in many locations, with an estimated 60-100 deployments around the world. This session will explore the key drivers for choosing RIST, discuss the benefits of the protocol and outline how the RIST community can continue to support and improve the RIST ecosystem.
Take a look at the full recording to discover why Open Broadcast Systems implements RIST technology and why other organisations, including those in non-broadcast industries, should consider it as a cost-effective channel to satellite uplink.
